Howard Stern and Adam Sandler weren’t on speaking terms for years after the radio host would criticize the actor’s movies.

But the Blended star and shock jock buried the hatchet this week when the actor visited Stern’s SiriusXM show in New York.

On Tuesday Sandler told the host that his constant criticism had hurt his feelings, to which the 61-year-old replied: ‘I was a total f**king a**hole.’

‘I always felt bad about all the years we didn’t speak,’ Stern admitted.

The Pixels star revealed just how sensitive he was about the whole thing as he told the former America’s Got Talent judge that he had always been a big fan.

The 49-year-old said: ‘When I was at NYU freshman year, I loved you. That’s why it was weird when you used to slam me. It would break my heart because I loved you growing up.

Stern recalled the time the duo were on a plane together and he had wanted to reach out to the actor but knew the film producer was avoiding him.

Sandler explained: ‘That was after you were nasty to me, and I remember the next day you talked about me being an a**hole again,

‘The reason I didn’t say hello was you were saying s**t to me.’

In 2012, Stern said: ‘I know Adam Sandler won’t come on the show because I’ve, in the past, criticized his movies,

‘I guess that’s the reason, but am I the only one criticizing the content in his movies?’ he asked.

In his chat with Stern, Sandler revealed that he doesn’t care too much about negative reviews but it does bother him when he casts his friends in the movies and wants them to be successful.

‘The bad reviews that I get on everything I do, that part pisses me off because I ask my f**kin friends to be in it,

‘I’m promising them, “I think it’s good.” And then I do screenings for an audience and it all works, and I’ll call them up after and say, “Hey, that one thing you said really did great,” and then that Friday, every Friday, literally every one of my movies is destroyed,’

Meanwhile Stern has signed a five-year contract with SiriusXM to continue hosting and producing The Howard Stern Show.

He will also help develop SiriusXM’s foray into video streaming.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to The Hollywood Reporter for the past five years the company has paid $80 million per year for Stern’s show, which is live three days a week.
