RUMOR: 2 Surprise NBA Teams Emerge As Front-Runners To Land LeBron & Bronny James
For the first time in his career, there are questions about Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James potentially walking away after an illustrious career.
James and the Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals on Monday. After the loss, Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report reported that James is considering retirement.
The four-time NBA champion is under contract for 2023-24, and he has a player option for 2024-25. James previously stated a desire to play his final NBA season with his son, Bronny James, who’s eligible for next year’s draft.
Bookies.com released its early betting odds for the team that will land LeBron and Bronny. The Houston Rockets and Charlotte Hornets are the co-betting favorites at +950 per, followed by the Detroit Pistons at +1000.
LeBron’s old team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, have the next best odds at +1200.
None of these teams are close to title contention, but the Rockets, Hornets and Pistons are obviously strong contenders to hold early-round picks next year. Many scouts project Bronny to be a top-10 selection in next year’s draft.
Earlier this month, Bronny announced that he’s committing to the USC basketball program. The 18-year-old played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon School, located in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles.
The 38-year-old James defied father time and had another MVP-like season in La La Land, averaging 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game.
