Things Got Extremely Awkward On ESPN’s Live Broadcast Just Moments Before Jalen Rose’s Firing Was Announced (VIDEO)

Well, this was awkward.

Former NBA star and popular ESPN analyst Jalen Rose was seemingly about to appear on Friday’s edition of “Get Up.” The 50-year-old Rose was among the notable names that was let go by the Worldwide Leader in Sports on Friday.

As you can see in the first clip below, the crew of “Get Up” was ready to introduce Rose to talk about James Harden’s situation with the Philadelphia 76ers. In the second clip, however Brian Custer stated that they were experiencing audio issues.

Afterwards, it was reported that Rose was among ESPN’s layoffs. The network had also released 27-year veteran Suzy Kolber, NBA commentator/analyst Jeff Van Gundy, former NFL stars Matt Hasselbeck, Keyshawn Johnson and Steve Young, NFL draft guru Todd McShay and former “First Take” co-host Max Kellerman.

Back in February, Disney CEO Bob Iger warned that the company would be cutting 7,000 jobs in order to save billions of dollars.

A former basketball star at Michigan, Rose played for the Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns. He won the Most Improved Player award in 2000 as a member of the Pacers.

Rose had a successful run at ESPN and was unquestionably one of the network’s top basketball analysts. Here’s hoping it won’t be long until the former NBA star finds a new position in front of the cameras.
