Cardi B faced comparisons to Milli Vanilli in the wake of her set at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on Saturday, as her music continued to play after she was involved in a confrontation with an audience member who threw liquid at her while she was performing.
In response, the WAP hitmaker, 30, threw a microphone at the fan, all the while her 2018 hit track Bodak Yellow continued to play with her vocals.
A number of social media users made references to the 80s pop duo Milli Vanilli – which consisted of Fab Morvan and the late Rob Pilatus – and had hits such as Girl You Know It’s True, Baby Don’t Forget My Number and Blame It on the Rain.
Morvan and Pilatus (who died in 1998) had to give back their Best New Artist Grammy in 1990 after it was revealed they hadn’t sung on their tracks.
On social media, a number of music fans drew comparisons to the pop superstar and the former tandem.

Some people came to the defense of the singer, saying the comparisons were not accurate, as Cardi B actually performed her music in the first place, whereas Milli Vanilli did not.
‘It doesn’t surprise me that you weird little kids have Milli Vanilli trending bc of Cardi B,’ one user said. ‘You clearly aren’t old enough to know that the issue with MV was that they weren’t singing on their song at all.

It wasn’t the first time this weekend the rapper — who just released a new song with her husband Offset titled Jealousy — decided to use her microphone for something other than singing.
The night prior, Cardi was performing at Drai’s Beachclub when she became irritated after the DJ was allegedly cutting off her songs too early.
In a clip shared to social media by user kfen777 the entertainer was seen shouting out her name before turning around and flinging the microphone in the direction of the DJ as if she was throwing a football, before walking off stage.
The first clip sees Cardi, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, wearing a busty bright orange dress while performing on stage in the daylight hours.
She is in the middle of singing her 2018 hit Bodak Yellow, and raises the microphone up to her face for another verse, before suddenly a spray of liquid is seen hitting her in the face from a drink a cup in the audience.

Despite sitting down in the clip, she beamed and panned the camera down to show off her hourglass figure and entire ensemble.
Later, she recorded a cute clip of herself with Offset — who sported a leather vest and baseball cap — and showed off his diamond-encrusted dental jewelry.
The throwing incidents come after Cardi B shut down rumors that she and her husband Offset faked a cheating scandal to promote their collaborative single, Jealousy, which was released on Friday.
