Jack Antonoff shuts down interview after being asked about Taylor Swift’s forthcoming album: ‘I don’t talk about that’

Jack Antonoff remains tight-lipped regarding his involvement in Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated new album.

The renowned songwriter and record producer, aged 39, swiftly concluded an interview with Dutch news outlet NRC when questioned about his contributions to Swift’s upcoming 11th studio album, “Tortured Poets Department,” slated for release on April 19.

“I don’t delve into that territory. If you’re seeking sensationalism, I’m not your source. Appreciate the conversation,” Antonoff retorted before promptly concluding the discussion.

Before departing, Antonoff didn’t completely evade mentioning his friend. He opened up about how the music on his latest project “Bleachers” compares to his work with the likes of the “Cruel Summer” singer, 34, and Lana Del Rey, stating, “I don’t view it as traditional producing.”

“I collaborate on music with my friends. It unfolds organically. I’m not the type of producer who dictates from behind a mixing console. My focus is on the music itself and facilitating the creative process,” he elaborated.

“The concept of success is peculiar. It often obscures the simple mechanisms that lead to great pop music. Effective communication is crucial. The artists I collaborate with trust me to enhance their music.”

Antonoff previously co-produced Swift’s “Midnights” album which won the 2024 Grammy Award for best pop vocal album.

Swift initially revealed her upcoming album in February while accepting a 2024 Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights,” a project Antonoff co-produced. He also co-wrote 12 out of the 13 songs on the album.

Shortly after the announcement, fans started speculating that the album title could be a reference to her ex, Joe Alwyn, and a group chat the actor shared with his friends Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, known as the “Tortured Man Club.”
