"That's legit terrifying": One Creepy Detail From Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Zachary Levi's Shazam Movies Bothers DC Fans

Jason Momoa and Zachary Levi’s tenure in the DCU has come to an end as Aquaman 2 became the last film in the pre-James Gunn era DC films. Levi and Momoa both returned in the sequels to their successful first solo films in 2023. However, both films turned out to be huge box-office disappointments.

Both actors and their characters did not get the opportunity to share screen space during their tenure in DC. However, one fan has pointed out one eerie commonality between both their films and it is indeed an interesting discovery.

Jason Momoa and Zachary Levi played Aquaman and Shazam respectively in the pre-James Gunn DCU. While both tasted success with their first solo ventures, their second outing proved to be disastrous at the box office. The actors’ tenure in the franchise have now ended with their 2023 outings Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Both characters did not get the chance to interact with one another. However, they seem to share a common easter egg placed by the filmmakers. A video uploaded by user @ivan_mars on YouTube shows how he discovered the creepy placement of Annabelle the doll in both the Shazam films and the first Aquaman film.

Fans were shocked by this creepy detail, with a fan named @Pokewolf11 commenting “That’s legit terrifying lol”. One clever fan @thefirstavenger1973 explained the reference as a fun Easter Egg placed by directors James Wan and David Sandberg, the directors of Aquaman and Shazam, who are also a part of building the Conjuring Universe.

He wrote, “The director of Aquaman created the Conjuring universe, so that was probably a reference. The director of both Shazam movies made Annabelle Creation so I think he wanted to keep the trend going”. This is a logical explanation and it is interesting to see how smartly the directors referenced their other works with Warner Bros through their DC ventures.

Margot Robbie Hints That She is Done As Harley Quinn in the DCU

Margot Robbie played the DCU’s Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad, 2020’s Birds of Prey, and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn and 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Fans have been speculating whether she will continue to play the character as she starred in James Gunn’s version of the character in 2021.

However. it seems like the actress is done playing Harley Quinn. In an interview with Variety, she claimed that Harley was always planned as a character that was to be passed on to explore more facets of her through another actress. She said,

“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, “What are they going to do with her?” The options are endless.”

Lady Gaga is set to play the character in this year’s Joker: Folie à Deux. It will be interesting to see how she manages to differentiate her portrayal from what Robbie did. The film will be released in theatres on October 4, 2024.
