The 2024 New York Yankees have added some pretty shiny preseason promos in Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo and Marcus Stroman. Thankfully, they’ve decided to add some door prizes to appease their fans, too.
The Yankees dropped a chunk of their 2024 promo schedule on Thursday to give fans a sneak peek at the action, and — as always — this year’s Star Wars bobblehead might be the headliner.

Gerrit Cole slides seamlessly into the spot that used to be occupied by CC Sabathia: Staff Ace Who Also Wouldn’t Look So Bad in a Cloak. Sabathia famously dressed the part, showing up to his own bobblehead day as a vertically stretched Yoda.
No word yet on whether Cole will hand out boxes in full Jedi regalia, but he certainly did spend the entirety of 2023 embodying The Force.
Yankees Promotional Schedule: Who wants a hockey jersey?!
Also on the docket for 2024 are two follow-ups to last season’s wildly popular Yankees basketball jersey, a bonus promo item that showed up mid-year. This time around, the Yankees are giving away both hockey jerseys (May 17) and football jerseys (Aug. 30), which is 100% less embarrassing than wearing either a Jets or Giants jersey around the city.
If it feels like a year too late for the Judge 62 bobblehead, that’s because it is; a late-season rainout against the Arizona Diamondbacks pushed this particular bobble into 2024, when fans can finally pair it with the Roger Maris version, which was released on time. At least the Yankees managed to get their Luis Severino bobbles out of the closet last year, albeit on one of the more embarrassing dates of the year.
The Yankees’ official site still claims that more information is “coming soon” regarding the remainder of the promo schedule, which seems to indicate this is only a small sample meant to whet the appetite.
Based on previous years, we can expect two or three more bobbleheads, as well as a few creative uses of the interlocking NY insignia. Socks? Bottle opener? In 2008, I once got a Dunkin’ Donuts sponsored ice tray, which was then signed by Texas Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. Truly, the promo world is your oyster.
Stay tuned for more to come from the Yankees. After all, they have to save a second-half spot for a bobblehead giveaway of whichever ace they acquire at the trade deadline … right?
