Aaron Boone hints where Juan Soto, Aaron Judge will hit in Yankees lineup

Aaron Boone has had plenty of time to think about Juan Soto’s spot in the Yankees lineup, and while he still has a few weeks until pitchers and catchers report to Tampa, there’s clearly a direction he’s leaning in by now.

The Yankee manager joined “Foul Territory” on Friday, when he was asked about the Yankees’ lineup early on in the interview.

“Right now, probably Juan in the two hole, [Aaron Judge] third,” Boone replied to a question asked by former big leaguer Todd Frazier, who played with the Yankees in second half of 2017.

“But we’ll just see, we’ll see how the leadoff spot shakes out.”

Regarding said leadoff spot, Boone mentioned DJ LeMahieu, Alex Verdugo and Gleyber Torres as potential options.

But overall, the Yankees skipper hasn’t made anything a 100 percent done deal yet.

Regarding Judge and Soto, he does envision them being close together in the lineup.

“I see Aaron and Soto hitting back-to-back, whether one’s two, the other’s three, the other’s three, the other’s two, I’m not quite sure yet, how it shakes out, it may depend on who actually is hitting in that leadoff spot, who is hitting in the four hole and beyond,” Boone offered.

“I think one of the exciting things about the potential of our lineup this year is the balance. We’re gonna have upwards of four or five lefties in the lineup,” he acknowledged.

“We can really kind of alternate things, and that’s not even talking about when Jasson Domínguez hopefully gets back for us at some point in the summer.”
