There’s no denying that royal weddings have a lasting impacting on big-day trends for years to come. After Kate Middleton married Prince William, long-sleeve lace wedding dresses, soft wavy hairstyles, and petite bouquets reigned supreme for years.

Similarly, when Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, her effortless updo and off-the-shoulder gown inspired countless brides-to-be to consider similar looks for their own weddings. One bride who says she looked to the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding-day look as she chose her own nuptial attire? Alexandra Daddario.

The White Lotus actress married film producer Andrew Form in New Orleans in June of 2022, and she says that she took her own style cues from Meghan and that well-known Givenchy wedding dress.

In an interview with InStyle, the actress opens up about how she chose her ’20s-inspired wedding dress by Danielle Frankel. “I’m not the type of girl who’s dreamed of her wedding, I had no idea what I wanted to wear, but I knew I didn’t want it to be super traditional,” she says.

As she began seeking out the right big-day look for her—one that felt right for the location without being too stuffy—she considered the looks worn by notable brides who came before her. “I guess I was kind of thinking Meghan Markle,” she tells the outlet.

While her pleated gown—complete with thin floral straps—looked entirely unlike Meghan’s silk organza wedding dress, which featured a bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeves, Daddario’s decision to wear something unique, comfortable, and entirely her own certainly aligns with the Duchess of Sussex’s own approach to wedding-day fashion.

“That was just the one that felt right, and I didn’t overthink it, and I just went with my gut,” Daddario tells InStyle of how she ultimately chose her wedding dress.

And though Daddario’s wedding dress might not resemble the one Meghan worn down the aisle, it does bear a resemblance to the Duchess of Sussex’s reception look.

Meghan traded her Givenchy gown for Stella McCartney number with a halter neckline, and the skirt of that dress does look quite similar to the one Daddario donned for her celebration.

Daddario and Form got engaged in April of 2022, which meant they dreamed up their big day in just about two months. To pull of their plans, the pair tapped wedding planner Michelle Norwood to help design and orchestrate the event, then chose Preservation Hall as their wedding venue.

Photographer Storm Santos documented every special detail of the day. “We were trying to achieve a laid-back aesthetic,” Daddario told Vogue last year. “We loved the look of Preservation Hall—it was so old, so historic, it lets its age and ‘flaws’ show. That’s what makes it so beautiful. We wanted it to be about music, drinking, and authentic New Orleans.”
