Britney Spears Seemingly Disses Selena Gomez In Cryptic Instagram Post Over Women Showing Their Bodes On Social Media

Britney Spears left a lot of people confused on Tuesday when she took to Instagram to post a lengthy caption that many believe was cryptically dissing Selena Gomez.

Despite the fact that the Disney alum was invited to Spears’ wedding over the summer, the “Toxic” singer appeared to have taken issue with a speech Gomez previously gave at the 2016 American Music Awards about not wanting to see people’s bodies on social media.

Many might recall Gomez winning Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist at the awards ceremony when she used her acceptance speech to talk about body image. “I don’t wanna see your bodies on Instagram. I wanna see what’s in here,” she told the crowd. “I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore.”

And in Spears’ post, she seemingly hit back at Gomez, writing, “Don’t you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on Instagram ???!!!!!” The mother-of-two continued that these same women telling people not to show their bodies are the ones “sucking and licking” ice cream and lollipops in their videos, which appeared to be a reference to Gomez’s music video with K-Pop group BlackPink for their song, “Ice Cream.”

“They say ‘This is NOT something I would do’ yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream!!!!” Spears continued in the caption, which she has since edited and replaced with a bunch of roses.

“These other girls have nothing but beautiful bodies !!!! Who cares if the flaunt it ??? THEY SHOULD!!! So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops yet giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people don’t be a hypocrite as you suck on your lollipop having HUGE budget dreams…”

Fans were left somewhat startled by the caption because things seemed to be going great between Spears and Gomez, who have built up a friendship in recent years. In fact, the two had gotten so close that Spears extended an invite for the “What The Heart Wants” singer to attend her wedding to husband Sam Asghari back in June.

Spears no Gomez have addressed the caption and whether it was actually about the 30-year-old or not, but fans certainly seem to think so.
