As the dominant film at the domestic box office over the weekend, Argylle had a fairly soft start in North America with only $18.0 million.

Overseas, Comscore reported the film added $17.3 million to produce a total of $35.3 million worldwide. And that’s a little bit of an underwhelming start—even when the reported production budget hovers around $200 million, according to Variety.

Cast members Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Sofia Boutella, Ariana DeBose, and Dua Lipa were featured in the star-studded ensemble of Argylle, directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Argylle received mixed reviews despite the starry ensemble, with some noting a sweetness lacking in recent Vaughn films but criticizing its speed and coherence.

In second place over the weekend was a theatrical release of The Chosen, a Christian historical drama, for its first three episodes of season four with $6.0 million.

In third was The Beekeeper at $5.2 million, while Wonka held fourth in its eighth weekend to now bring in $4.7 million. Holding fifth was migration, with $4.1 million.
