Scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed that Henry Cavill has accepted a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After the recent Fantastic Four casting announcement, fans quickly assumed that Cavill would be taking on the role of Victor Von Doom, aka Dr. Doom. However, MyTimetoShineHello responded to one user, saying he was offered something else that he accepted.

We’re used to seeing Henry Cavill play more heroic roles, like Superman or Geralt of Rivia, but he proved in Mission: Impossible – Fallout that he is more than capable of being a bad guy

With that being said, since MyTimeToShineHello has not revealed who Henry Cavill is playing for Marvel, it’s possible that the role is still unknown to everyone but Marvel and Kevin Feige.

It’s also possible that this rumor isn’t true at all and that Cavill hasn’t accepted any new superhero roles. Still, Cavill’s name has been in the minds of MCU fans for a while now, especially after he was booted from his role as Superman in the DCU.

It would be great to see Cavill really sink his teeth into a villainous Marvel role, especially one as significant and important as Dr. Doom. Cavill is a notable fan of comic books, so it’s safe to say he would give the role his all.

Henry Cavill as Doctor Doom or another significant Marvel character could help continue the course correction that the MCU needs to make.

Of course, it seems like the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine will officially be bringing the X-Men into the MCU, so that opens up a lot of possibilities for Cavill. Many fans have previously suggested that Henry Cavill would be a great Cyclops for Marvel. Of course, another popular suggestion has been Captain Britain, who Cavill himself has expressed interest in playing.

Henry Cavill as Doctor Doom or another significant Marvel character could help continue the course correction that the MCU needs to make. The multiverse saga hasn’t really been working for fans, and the fact that Jonathan Majors was dropped as Kang the Conqueror means that the MCU needs a new direction.

Dr. Doom has always been a fan-favorite villain from the comics and plays a major role in Secret Wars, which was already an announced Avengers movie, so it seems likely Marvel will fill the role with someone soon if not Cavill.

Casting someone that fans want, like Henry Cavill as Marvel’s Dr. Doom, would definitely bring the MCU a lot of goodwill and continue the studio’s goodwill hot streak after the well-received Deadpool & Wolverine trailer and the Fantastic Four casting announcement.

Marvel gave everyone a great Valentine’s Day surprise when it announced that Pedro Pascal would play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby would play Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn would play Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach would play Ben Grimm. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to make another major casting announcement that everyone could get behind.

Then again, this could be the perfect opportunity for Marvel to make a bold move and choose a lesser-known Dr. Doom actor who is right for the part. Big casting announcements are fun, but it would be cool to see if Marvel could pull off another Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston situation.

Nevertheless, Henry Cavill joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely an exciting development, no matter who he ends up playing.
