Glamour and glitz do not always chronicle success and this Henry Cavill-led espionage thriller, Argylle, confirms it.

Even though the buzz had been quite cacophonous given Cavill’s action prodigy made a comeback to the big screens after a sizeable hiatus, the flick ultimately did not acquire as much hubbub in the theatres as their opening day’s downtrodden figure suggests.

In fact, Argylle is said to have underperformed despite being blessed with its multimillion budget. As a result, not only has it failed to bank on a sold-out box office situation but also has hardly managed to recover the smallest crook of the big expense.

Argylle’s opening day screams loss

Henry Cavill might be back with his citadel of talent exhibition for the movie monitors, but that does not mean that the audience is ready to receive it with open arms. At least the estimated figures of Argylle’s opening day do not say otherwise.

Therefore, although the cat might be out of the bag, fans do not seem cat-eyed thrilled to experience Argylle’s theatrics. As a result, it has only recorded $6.5 million in ticket sales, despite splurging a whopping $200 million production budget.

The opening day figure does not even compensate for 5% of the multimillion budget it has showcased. Furthermore, the film accounted for ticket sales from only 3,605 North American venues.

Since Argylle has stepped in with an underwhelming start, one needs to await the course of action to corroborate its fate. However, this misfire could be dire for the future of the franchise starter pack as its imprint could even mud the upcoming installments if the flick does not pick up popularity in the review charts.

Indeed, Argylle did not score a success with its opening day sales and rather underperformed to be fair. However, this box office figure has no shortcoming on the eye-glittering paycheck Henry Cavill received to star in the movie.

Henry Cavill’s earnings from Argylle

Even though Argylle is leading a low streak in the theaters, it was a pocket-heavy project for its lead, Henry Cavill. While no official paycheck figure has been outed as of yet, insider’s estimation falls somewhere around $8-10 million.

The ballpark figure resembles his earnings from The Witcher’s second installment, despite the massive differences concerning the screen times.

Yet, keeping in mind the unexpected inauguration of underwhelming performance, further royalties and bonuses seem to confront a bit of tough luck henceforth. However, unpredictability rules the cinematic landscape.

Therefore betting on that caution, one can only pray that a turnaround moment arrives soon enough to change the narrative for Argylle, especially in the zone of box office collection.
