We won’t take any particular rumor too seriously. However, if some of the latest casting rumors about Henry Cavill circulating online are to be believed, the British actor, 40, has already consented to join the MCU. After a brief cameo as Superman in Black Adam’s mid-credit scene, he was left without a superhero film franchise.

Given that Warner Bros. never treated the Man of Steel and Justice League star well. It makes sense for Cavill to move on to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, expectedly, based on current rumors, it looks like the actor will make his MCU debut sooner rather than later.

And while the actor’s potential role in the MCU is still up in the air, reports suggest that Cavill would end up playing either Doctor Doom or Captain Britain.

The casting of The Fantastic Four has recently been revealed by Marvel Studios, sparking speculation about potential actors to play the superhero Doctor Doom.

Henry Cavill is the front-runner for the role of this supervillain, according to a report on X. Industry insider Daniel Richtman, however, refuted the rumors, claiming that the casting announcement was untrue.

Through social media, this news quickly gained traction, and some fans truly believed it. Another account posted a positive message, saying how amazing it would be if the false information turned out to be true.

Meanwhile, a rumor circulated by scooper @MyTimeToShineHello claimed that the Tristan & Isolde star has been offered and accepted a mystery role in an upcoming Marvel Studios project.

Doctor Doom, ruler of the fictional country of Latveria, is one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful and intelligent villains. Given his strong presence and talent for portraying complex characters, Cavill might be a great fit to play to bring this character to life.

While a lot of fans continue to think Cavill would play Doctor Doom, there have been reports that he’ll appear as Captain Britain in an upcoming MCU film.

Henry Cavill Showed Interest in Playing Captain Britain?

However, Captain Britain—also going by Brian Braddock—is a British superhero with superhuman strength and agility. As a member of the superhero team Excalibur, he is a representation of bravery and pride. His first appearance was in Marvel Comics’ Captain Britain #1 in 1976.

The actor, who famously played the enduring hero Superman in the DC Extended Universe, certainly has the stature and personality to assume the role of Captain Britain. It appears that even he is enthusiastic about taking on the role in the MCU.

In an interview with THR, Cavill disclosed that he had seen fan-made illustrations of himself (check out @buffy2ville) wearing the Captain Britain uniform. The actor said he intended to “do a cool, modernized version” of it. To quote him:

“I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”

Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, so these are just rumors at this time. But if Cavill does join the MCU as Doctor Doom or Captain Britain, fans can be confident that he will bring his trademark charm and intensity to the role.

The cast of the upcoming The Fantastic Four film includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby, and Pedro Pascal. The film is slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
