Pop star Taylor Swift has revealed when she started dating rugby player Travis Kelce and her reasons for making her new love public.

In an interview with Time magazine when she was named “Person of the Year,” Taylor Swift said that her romantic relationship with Travis Kelce began this summer. “Travis was lovely to gush about me on his podcast. We actually started hanging out soon after. So he and I had a significant amount of dating time that no one knew,” Taylor recalled.

Taylor was referring to an episode of the Kelce brothers’ New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast back in July. At the time, the 34-year-old revealed he tried to meet Taylor to give him a bracelet with his phone number when he came to see the singer’s concert but failed. However, thanks to a conversation on the podcast, Taylor noticed Travis and contacted him.

Lover said: “The first time I went to Travis’ game (September 9), we were a couple. I think some people think it was my and his first date. But we’ll never be psychotic enough to start dating like that.”

After going public with her romance, Taylor often went to watch her boyfriend play. She also invited artist friends to cheer on Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs. The 33-year-old singer is comfortable expressing her love for Travis Kelce, unlike previous private relationships.

“I want to see the things he likes. The two appear for each other, not caring much about the people around them. We’re just proud of each other,” Taylor said. She also said she didn’t pay attention to the cameras in the stadium: “I’m there to support Travis. I don’t know if I show up too much and make dads uncomfortable.”

Taylor Swift went to watch her boyfriend’s 5 games and the Kansas City Chiefs won in a row. Travis Kelce also supported Taylor wholeheartedly. He flew to Argentina for two days to visit Taylor when she embarked on a South American tour in November.

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Travis Kelce also spoke about his love affair with Taylor Swift for the first time. He confessed to “never dating someone so temperamental” and praised Taylor as a smart, sweet girl.
