Taylor Swift’s new album becomes the fastest selling of 2023… and she’s also broken an even bigger record

TAYLOR Swift has scored the chart double and achieved the fastest-selling album of 2023 so far.

The US superstar, 33, has topped the album chart with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and is also at No1 in the singles chart with Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version).

The incredible feat means she is the female artist with the most No1 albums this millenium, with 11.

Madonna, 65, is the only female artist to have ever had more chart-topping albums, with a total of 12.

The record, which features the hits Shake It Off and Style, sold 184,000 copies in the UK in seven days – more than double the 90,000 sales which 1989 accrued over the same period when it was first released in 2014.

Taylor has been re-recording her albums after the rights to her back catalogue were bought without her permission.

It has this week outsold the rest of the Top Ten combined and beaten Lewis Capaldi’s Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which set the record for the year’s fastest-selling album of the year back in May when it shifted 95,000 copies in a week.

Last month, she was declared a US billionaire thanks to her continued popularity, following the success of the US-leg of her Eras Tour.

She released the concert as a movie in October and will bring the sold out tour to stadiums in the UK next summer.
