FAMED actor Andre Braugher was well- known for his roles on the police shows Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Who was Andre Braugher?

Andre Braugher was an American actor born on July 1, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois.

Following a successful high school career, Andre was offered a scholarship to Stanford University where he studied theatre.

He later attended the drama division at New York’s prestige performing arts school, The Juilliard School, graduating in 1988.

Andre booked his first role the following year in the 1989 film Glory.

The Chicago actor went on to land his break-out role as Detective Frank Pembleton on the 1993 TV police drama Homicide: Life on the Street.

Andre since appeared on an array of hit shows and films including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and Law & Order: SVU.

Due to his outstanding acting career, Andre received many accolades including two Emmy Awards and two Critics Choice TV Awards.

What was his cause of death?

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Andre’s rep Jennifer Allen said the famed actor passed away on Monday, December 11, after suffering a brief illness.

The specific illness has yet to be confirmed.

Fans were quick to send their condolences on Andre’s final Instagram post following the news.

“Rest in eternal power sir” one person wrote as another fan added, “RIP Captain.”

A third shared: “I’ll never get over it. I love you Andre,” and one follower reacted, “So sad this guy was incredible.”

Was Andre Braugher married?

Andre Braugher was married to actress Ami Brabson.

The two met while on the set of Homicide: Life on the Street where Ami played Mary Pembleton.

In addition to Homicide: Life on the Street, Ami worked on Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order, and All My Children.

While in their acting careers, Andre and Ami welcomed three sons: Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley.
