Katy Perry is not one to cut designer threads.
Katy Perry, known for her vibrant personality and bold fashion choices, found herself in a humorous situation while on the set of an American Idol photoshoot. The 39-year-old singer hilariously struggled to remove a $7,400 Bottega Veneta dress, which seemed to cling tightly to her shoulders.
In an Instagram video shared on Tuesday, April 2, Perry could be seen sitting in a glam chair with a defeated expression as she wrestled with the dress. Despite suggestions to cut the dress off, Perry humorously insisted, “You just can’t cut Bottega.”
The cherry red dress featured a plunging bodice, a padded neckline, and a drop waist, accentuating Perry’s figure with protruding hips and a pleated skirt. She accessorized her look with leather floral-embellished gloves and white mules.
Perry completed her glam with filled-in eyebrows, soft eyeshadow, long lashes, and bright red lips. Her brunette hair was styled in a sleek ponytail, adding to her chic appearance on the set.
“We’ve been cutting kids on #idol but you can’t cut bottega 😔✂️,” she captioned the hilarious post.
Celebrity friends and fans agreed with Perry’s decision in the comments section.

Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton expressed amusement with a laughing emoji, while Perry’s friend Mia Mortelli jokingly reiterated that the dress couldn’t be cut. Prior to the incident, Perry showcased her daring style at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, held on Monday, April 1. She made a statement in a mesh dress featuring side cutouts tied together with red ribbons. Underneath, Perry wore a black bralette and cheeky underwear, pairing the ensemble with knee-high leather boots and oversized black shades. Her hair was styled in beachy waves left flowing down, completing her edgy look for the event.
