Hunter Schafer Reflects on Her Relationship With Dominic Fike
In a recent interview, Hunter Schafer reflected on her relationship with her “Euphoria” co-star Dominic Fike, emphasizing its significance as it marked her first experience dating “a man.” The actress revealed that prior to this relationship, she had not considered dating men due to her past experiences with them.
“I had had so many shitty experiences with men before—not from dating them, but just in life,” she said while explaining that it led her to create an emotional barrier around men. However, her relationship with the Elliot’s Song singer allowed her to break down such barriers.
She shared that it not only helped her to “work through a lot of the feelings of disdain” towards men but also allowed her to open up emotionally in ways she hadn’t experienced before. She told GQ,
“I think it had inhibited a lot of my friendships with men, and a lot of that came down as well. I had a really beautiful relationship with [Fike], and it really opened me up in that way.”

However, he also admitted to feeling overly reliant on his former partner, acknowledging, “But the fact of me saying that—of being uncomfortable being alone—that’s a bad thing.” He later delved into his struggles with codependency during an interview with Apple Music, expressing how he constantly felt the need for Schafer’s presence and support.
“That has actually bled into my romantic relationships, that kind of dynamic and it is often the cause of the end of my relationship—I’m just done being in relationships right now.”

Hunther Schafer Will Return to Euphoria With Season Three in 2025

While Euphoria fans can breathe a sigh of relief regarding Hunter Schafer’s situation, the wait for season 3 continues. Originally expected in 2023, the season’s release has been pushed back to 2025. This delay can be attributed to several factors, including production disruptions due to the writer’s strike in 2023 and the tragic passing of actor Angus Cloud, who played Fez in the series.
Francesca Orsi, Vice President of HBO Programming, shared with fans the reasons of pushing back the release date for the seriers (via Elle):
“We can’t start shooting. So the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam [Levinson], who at this point is [not writing] and just finishing on The Idol.”
Schafer has had a major role in the series thus far and is expected to have a major role in future as well. While HBO or Euphoria did not comment on Schafer’s recent protest incident, it does not affect their professional partnership. Both the seasons of Euphoria can be streamed on HBO Max.
