This news comes after Taylor Swift released her third album in July 2023, “Speak Now.”

“Speak Now” brought honor to Taylor Swift as the first female artist to have four albums simultaneously in the top 10 of the Billboard album chart, making her the third artist in history to achieve this.

During the final leg of the “Eras Tour” at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, USA, Taylor Swift announced that the re-recorded album “1989” would be released on October 27th.

Taylor Swift previously revealed on Good Morning America and through her social media accounts that her sixth tour, the “Eras Tour,” would be a “journey through the musical eras of her career,” marking her return to touring after 5 years.

The “Eras Tour” by Taylor Swift will continue with multiple shows in various countries until the fall of 2024. The pop star has recently added 15 more performances to the “Eras Tour” in North America.

On March 4th, Singapore revealed that the amount they paid for the exclusive performance of artist Taylor Swift on the island nation was not as high as rumored, following media reports stating that the American superstar was paid millions of dollars for each show.

Taylor Swift’s six sold-out shows in Singapore, starting from March 2nd, are expected to attract a total of over 300,000 audience members. However, some neighboring countries have expressed dissatisfaction with not being able to bring the famous singer-songwriter’s “The Eras Tour” to their countries.

Some individuals, including Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, have claimed that Taylor Swift was paid millions of dollars by the Singaporean government to prevent her from performing elsewhere in the region.

Singapore stated that the exclusive deal with Taylor Swift was not meant to upset neighboring countries.

“There have been some rumors online about the amount spent. I can say that those numbers are not accurate, and the actual figures are not as high as speculated,” AFP quoted Singapore’s Minister for Culture Edwin Tong as saying in front of the country’s parliament on March 4th.

“For reasons of commercial confidentiality, we cannot disclose the exact amount or the terms relating to this expenditure,” he added.

Minister Tong also stated that “the economic benefits to Singapore are assessed to be significant and far outweigh the amount spent.”

Previously, Prime Minister Thavisin of Thailand quoted a music event organizer revealing that Singapore had offered to pay Taylor Swift up to $3 million per performance if she did not perform anywhere else in Southeast Asia outside of Singapore.

A lawmaker in the Philippines also criticized Singapore, stating that this is not “something good neighbors should do.”

“The media units of top artists will independently calculate and evaluate where they want to perform and for how long,” Minister Tong stated.

Since Singapore lifted Covid-19-related restrictions, several top artists have performed in the Lion City, including Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Blackpink, and Harry Styles.
