“At the end of the day, we lost a brother,” said Offset, nearly one year after his and Quavo’s fellow Migos member Takeoff’s death

When the time is right, Migos members Offset and Quavo may collaborate again.

Offset, 31, opened up about his relationship with bandmate Quavo, 32, on Wednesday’s episode of The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM. He revealed that, while the two are still grieving the death of their third Migos member Takeoff, they remain in touch and may work on new music together in the future.

“That’s my brother at the end of the day,” the rap star said of Quavo. “We’re good, though, bro. We were just with each other in Paris. We be talking because we be going through emotions and s— with this s—.”

The rapper clarified that despite few public appearances together, they have been in touch since their collaborator and Quavo’s nephew Takeoff tragically died at age 28 by gun violence in November 2022. “It don’t be for the public. That’s the thing. Like when it’s like this, it don’t be everything for the public to be kiki-ing. And everybody want us to be — but we still got to move in our own worlds, but it’s all love.

He continued, “At the end of the day, we lost a brother; we can’t rock out.”

While the two hip-hop artists may not feel ready to “rock out” together right now, when co-host Charlamagne tha God asked Offset if another collaboration between him and Quavo could be in the works, he said, “I think so.”

For the time being, the star — who is releasing his sophomore solo album Set It Off on Oct. 13 — said he’s focused on “creating [his] foot in the game” and his individual business ventures.

He also explained that fans shouldn’t expect to hear any unreleased Migos music featuring the late rapper anytime soon. “It ain’t fair to put that pressure on us either after losing a brother,” he told The Breakfast Club. “Maybe, you know what I’m saying, in the future. Right now, I just don’t see it. It’s hard for me hearing our songs sometimes in the club, bro.”

The “Clout” artist, who is married to Cardi B, also opened up about how he and Quavo took the stage at the BET Awards in June for the first time since Takeoff died.

Although Offset was hesitant to do the tribute because it felt like “running away from reality,” he explained that Pharrell Williams convinced him that he and Quavo needed to. “I had talked to Pharrell, we were sitting at a [Paris Fashion Week] show, and I was telling him like, ‘Man, I don’t know if we should do it because this just ain’t gonna be right, and I feel like I’m scared it’s gonna put me back in that moment.’”

“[Pharrell] was like, ‘No, you gotta do that for the world and him,’” Offset continued. “’Y’all the biggest group ever in hip-hop. And also, he would want that, bro.’ He was like, ‘You need that energy of you and your brother rocking that stage again, even if it’s for the last time or whatever.”

Williams, 50, apparently told him that it was “going to be a cleanser” for both Migos members, and Offset admitted on the radio show that it was.

“After we did it, I did feel good about it. Closed the chapter the right way, a big way with love and giving to the people also,” he added. “If you go into something with the wrong energy, you ain’t gonna do it right. We went into it with the right energy, and that’s my brother.”

Offset and Quavo, who released his second solo album Rocket Power in August, were photographed together for the first time in months at a gathering in honor of Takeoff, on what would have been his 29th birthday in June.

Prior to that, the only time they were seen together publicly was when they allegedly got into a physical altercation backstage at the Grammy Awards in February. TMZ reported that the incident happened just before Quavo took the stage for Takeoff’s tribute performance.

After the award show, Offset shut down rumors that they were fighting. “What tf look like fighting my brother,” he wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “yal n— is crazy.”

The rappers both attended Takeoff’s memorial service in November, though the two were not pictured interacting.
