Rihanna’s Tights-as-Pants Look Is the Only Tights-as-Pants Look I Will Be Thinking About Going Forward
To be honest, I have not been entirely sold on the no-pants fashion trend because, to me, it never doesn’t give “I just forgot to put on pants.” And then Rihanna wears tights as pants on a night out and suddenly I’m all in. Have you seen that meme, “It’s ugly until Rihanna wears it”? It’s like that.
On October 3, Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, celebrated his 34th birthday at Carbone in New York City (where else?), for which RiRi dressed in Black Swan chic, Fenty edition. The “We Found Love” singer wore balletcore black tulle with a corseted bodice and an asymmetrical skirt short enough to qualify as a blouse. She layered a cropped silk bomber jacket on top and, instead of pants, opted for opaque black tights and matching pointed-toe pumps. She accessorized with oversized hoop earrings, a chic updo, and square-framed sunglasses.

To be fair to Rocky, his ’fit was also a serve. The birthday boy went playfully professorial with his look, layering a classic checked blazer over a gray pullover sweater, which topped his white button-down and gray tie. He dressed down the first-day-of-school vibes with his baggy jeans. In the pictures, A$AP also carries an oversized pink tote bag. Perhaps the accessory is Rihanna’s and her man was carrying it for her, or perhaps the bag belongs to Rocky himself—either way, it’s a yes for me.
