Shakira shares how her children overcame the shock of their parents’ separation-HO

The singer Shakira mentioned that both Milan and Sasha share the same perspective of ‘accepting the pain’ when she and former defender Gerard Pique experienced a relationship crisis two years ago.

The Colombian songstress shared with The Times of the UK recently: “My children know that there is only one way to live, and that is by accepting pain, and each of us has different ways to do this.”

The beautiful artist added that her eldest son Milan inherited her musical talent and plays the piano masterfully. The 11-year-old often expresses his emotions through composition. “When his father and I went through the process of separation, Milan wrote two amazing songs, and they made me cry,” the singer revealed.

Milan and his 9-year-old brother Sasha also showcase their musical talents by playing instruments and singing in the MV “Acróstico” – a gentle and heartfelt song Shakira wrote about unconditional family love.

The mother of two also recalled her bittersweet romance with Pique, stating that she temporarily stopped singing and focused on homemaking behind the scenes to support the former Barca defender’s football career. She said, “There were many sacrifices for love. For a long time, I put everything aside to be with Gerard, so he could play football.”

In an interview with Billboard last year, Shakira said she believes in the phrase “only death can separate us” in her relationship with Pique. “My priority is family, home. I believe in the dream of two people only ceasing to love each other when they die. My parents have been together for half a century, and they love each other like the first day, a unique love that cannot be repeated. I know I can have that too. That’s what I wanted for myself and my children. But it didn’t happen,” the beauty said.

Pique and Shakira crossed paths in 2010 and have had a love story praised as a fairytale for over a decade.

After splitting with Pique in the summer of 2022, Shakira returned to music. Over the past two years, she has released many hit songs, mostly revolving around past broken relationships. This month, the Colombian singer will debut her album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (translated as “Women Don’t Cry Anymore”) and plans to go on tour after leaving her singing career on hold for several years. Shakira once mentioned that both of her children support her career.

Shakira and Pique first met in 2010 when he appeared in the World Cup 2010 anthem music video “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” Despite their 10-year age gap, the couple confirmed their relationship in March 2011. In early 2013, they welcomed their first son, and two years later, Shakira gave birth to their second child. The once-powerful couple was deeply attached to each other but had no intention of getting married. In the summer of 2022, they announced their breakup, much to the regret of their fans. However, Spanish media reported that Pique and Shakira had encountered problems for some time, with the former Barcelona player being accused of deceit.

Born in 1987, Gerard Pique is considered one of the best defenders of his generation. After four years at Manchester United, Pique returned to his hometown to play for Barcelona until retiring at the end of last year. The 36-year-old former defender had a brilliant career both with the Catalan club and the national team. Meanwhile, Shakira, the famous Colombian singer, is dubbed the Queen of Latin Music with her illustrious career.
