Taylor Swift once sang that “the rumors are terrible and cruel, but honey most of them are true.”

But in the case of recent speculation that the Midnights singer is collaborating in some way with Beyoncé on her recently announced album Renaissance: Act II, the rumors are in fact not true. A source with knowledge of the situation tells EW that Swift is not featured on Bey’s new record in any way.

Internet theorizing was kicked into overdrive Tuesday when Grammy-nominated producer Killah B, who produced and co-wrote Beyoncé’s new track “Texas Hold ‘Em,” teased to TMZ that fans are “just gonna have to wait and see” if Swift appears on Act II. “Let’s just say [Beyoncé is] on the approach of shocking the world,” he said. “I’ll let your imagination decide what that means.”

The Renaissance singer unveiled the title, release date, and first two tracks from the new record, which appears to be country-tinged, following a Super Bowl ad she starred in Sunday. Swift, of course, started her career in country music, so a crossover between the two wouldn’t have been completely out of left field.

Although Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, two titans of the music industry, are not collaborating on Act II, they have consistently shown support for each other throughout their careers, particularly in recent times. In October, Beyoncé attended Swift’s Eras Tour concert film premiere, where they posed together for photos and shared a brief video.

After the event, Swift expressed her gratitude on Instagram, stating, “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce’s influence.” Swift highlighted Beyoncé’s impact on her career, emphasizing her ability to break rules and defy industry norms, as well as her resilience and generosity of spirit.

Swift reciprocated the support by attending Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert film premiere in London, where they once again posed together. Swift also addressed the media’s tendency to compare their respective tours in an interview with Time magazine, expressing disappointment in the practice.

Swift remarked, “There were so many stadium tours this summer, but the only ones that were compared were me and Beyoncé.” She noted that despite their refusal to engage in such comparisons, media and stan culture often pit women against each other for entertainment purposes.

She added of Bey, “She’s the most precious gem of a person — warm and open and funny. And she’s such a great disrupter of music-industry norms. She taught every artist how to flip the table and challenge archaic business practices.”

Renaissance: Act II is slated to arrive March 29, while The Tortured Poets Department will be released April 19.
