Travis Kelce’s old tweets are resurfacing online, and some Swifties are here for it

For once, it appears that a celebrity’s past social media posts are not haunting him in a bad way.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s viral public relationship has captivated the internet. Now, so have some of Kelce’s old tweets.

On Wednesday, several of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s social media posts dating to 2010 recirculated on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), where many of Swift’s fans appeared genuinely amused.

Kelce’s early internet humor and occasional spelling errors became fodder for online amusement, with some of his old posts gaining traction as memes.

One particularly viral reshare was a tweet from 2011 where Kelce shared an observation about a squirrel’s behavior after giving it a piece of bread. In the tweet, he misspelled both “squirrel” and “piece.”

The tweet read, “I just gave a squirle a peice of bread and it straight smashed all of it!!!! I had no idea they ate bread like that!! Haha #crazy.”

A Taylor Swift fan account juxtaposed Kelce’s 2011 commentary with Swift’s lyrics from the extended re-recording of her 2012 song “All Too Well.”

“taylor swift in 2011: from when your brooklyn broke my skin and bones i’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight, and did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? just between us, did the love affair maim you too?

In 2011, Travis Kelce made a memorable tweet about giving a squirrel a piece of bread, as highlighted by a post on X.

Kelce’s tweets about Chipotle also garnered attention, particularly his consistent misspelling of “Chipotle” as “Chipolte” throughout many months in 2010. One user on X shared a screenshot of Kelce’s enthusiastic tweets about “Chipolte,” expressing amusement at his commitment to the misspelling.

Another tweet from Kelce hinted at his determination to turn his dreams into reality, even before his romantic involvement with Taylor Swift. In the tweet, Kelce mentioned visualizing his success while enjoying the scenery under the moonlight, suggesting a mindset focused on achievement and ambition.

Some brands, like Olive Garden, Taco Bell and Chipotle, have leaned in to using some of Kelce’s tweets that mentioned them as part of their own promotional efforts.

The official Taco Bell account on X reposted a 2009 tweet where Kelce shared his plans to go to the fast food chain. “karma is a crunchwrap coming straight home to me,” Taco Bell said in the post, referencing the lyrics to a Taylor Swift song and a popular item on their menu.

Some fans marveled at what appears to be a lack of “problematic” tweets.

One user on X humorously remarked that Swifties searching through Travis Kelce’s old tweets found nothing problematic, only discovering his love for Chipotle, his spelling struggles, and his penchant for vibing without much deep thought. They hailed him as a king for his simple yet relatable tweets.

However, discussions on Reddit brought attention to a potentially problematic tweet allegedly from Kelce’s account in 2010, stating, “As a man, You have something wrong with you if your going for girls that weigh more then you!!” Opinions among Reddit users varied, with some expressing little surprise and others suggesting that people can change significantly over a decade.

Interestingly, some of Kelce’s other tweets that resurfaced, such as one from 2010 thanking Jesus for Easter, seemed to have vanished from his online profile since then.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no official response from Kelce’s representatives regarding the Reddit thread or the reactions to his past tweets.
