“The 35-year-old ‘British Nightingale’ goes by the full name Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, but is better known by the shorter moniker Adele.”

With the world’s best-selling music product in 2015, this renowned singer caught the attention of Sony after concluding her recording contract with the UK-based XL Recordings at the age of 19.

The new deal with Sony was brokered by Adele’s manager, Jonathan Watkins.

Currently, both Sony Music, XL Recordings, and Adele’s management have yet to comment on this move by the singer. However, multiple sources confirm Sony’s sponsorship of Adele.

With an estimated net worth of around $123 million, primarily derived from the success of her music, including over $50.6 million in revenue from the album “25,” Adele is regarded as the most successful singer-songwriter in the UK.

In 2012, Adele ranked fifth on VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Women in Music,” while Time magazine honored her as one of the most influential figures in the world.

At the 85th Academy Awards, Adele became one of only six artists in history to win an Oscar for Best Original Song with “Skyfall,” the theme song for the blockbuster James Bond film of the same name.

The latest Billboard 200 music chart in the US continues to feature the British songbird Adele with her album “25,” as she impressively surpasses two heavyweight contenders, Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

According to Nielsen statistics, in the past week, “25” has sold an additional 100,000 copies through various formats such as CD sales, song downloads, and free online streaming.

This album has sold over 8.3 million copies since its release in November 2015 and has spent a total of 10 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart.

Last week, this acclaimed music product also helped Adele secure 4 prestigious awards at the Brit Awards (considered the UK’s equivalent of the Grammys), including “Best British Female Artist” and “Best Album.”

Moving up to the second position on the Billboard 200 last week was Rihanna’s R&B album “Anti,” which sold 80,000 copies, while Canadian pop star Justin Bieber’s album “Purpose” came in third with 63,000 copies sold.

The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on various criteria, including album sales, song downloads, and paid online streaming. For downloaded or streamed songs, album consumption is counted based on the number of tracks in the album.

For example, if an album like “25” has 11 such tracks and any of them are downloaded or streamed 11 times, it counts as 1 unit of album consumption. Billboard aggregates these results to rank albums based on their overall impact.
