Just a few hours ago Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever landed in Dallas ahead of their preseason game against the Wings on Friday night.
Upon landing at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Clark and her teammates were followed by a number of reporters, who filmed their every move. It created a somewhat uncomfortable environment that fans started calling out immediately.
The incident started going viral on social media and eventually crossed Jemele Hill’s timeline. The former ESPN reporter and current Atlantic writer didn’t hold back her thoughts on the incident: she’s hoping for change.
“Caitlyn Clark is hopefully going to force the charter flight issue in the WNBA the way Brittney Griner did,” Hill said on X – formerly known as Twitter. “It’s about safety and player health.”
“The WNBA only allows charter flights on back-to-backs during the regular season and in the postseason — even though some teams have expressed a willingness to provide charter flights for their players the whole season,” she added.
“The Liberty were fined $500K for against league rules and providing charters for their players. It’s weird prohibiting charter flights was even in the WNBA at all. It seems each team should have been allowed to make their own decision about this from the jump.”
Here’s the video in question.
