Latto has surprised a fan by giving them money for their rent just moments after being slammed for bragging about being ‘rich’.

The Atlanta rapper, 25, gifted the unknown woman $2,000 via Cash App. The fan then posted the receipt on X, along with a personal message from the celebrity, who said ‘for rent on me’.

Born Alyssa Michelle Stephens, the hitmaker was called out by fans after posting her ‘fave thing about being rich is going out to eat damn near every day and ordering whatever the f**k I got a taste for’.

This didn’t sit right with one user, who suggested the Big Energy rapper read the room, as many of her fans couldn’t afford the same lifestyle.

Responding directly to the rapper’s post, and using the handle @tato10110, she wrote: ‘Not right now Latto. Please. It’s rent season.’

Latto, who recently collaborated with Jennifer Lopez on the latter’s ode to Ben Affleck called ‘Can’t Get Enough’, immediately apologized to the fan and went one step further by asking for the cost of her rent.

Taking to X, Latto wrote: ‘Sorry, how much is your rent and what’s your Cash App?’

Shortly after sending her details to the rapper, the user shared a screengrab of a receipt for $2,000 paid by CashApp, under the rapper’s real name Alyssa Stephens.

Shocked by the gesture, the fan posted the grab alongside a grateful message reading: ‘LATTOOOOOOOOO! Latto don’t do budgetsss. I LOVE YOU!’

Latto’s actions sparked a running line of jokes on the platform, with people immediately flooding her mentions with financial requests of their own.

One person wrote: ‘You should Cash App me $75 so I can do that tomorrow’ to which the star replied with the question: ‘What’s your Cash App?’

Later on the same user posted proof of a $500 payment also via Cash App, which the generous rapper had paid out for ‘lunch’.

Many other X users tried their hand at receiving a similar gift, however they seemingly weren’t so lucky.

The news comes as the rapper – who rose to fame after winning Jermaine Dupri’s reality television series The Rap Game in 2016 – was named as the first woman to headline Atlanta radio station 107.9’s birthday bash.

Taking to Instagram last week, the rapper announced the news alongside a behind-the-scenes video which showed her celebrating the feat.

The Atlanta native and Queen of Da Souf rapper said: ‘I love my city, my city had my back… get your tickets now!’

Latto is also set to feature in Season 2 of Netflix’s popular music competition series Rhythm + Flow.

Latto, along with rappers Ludacris and DJ Khaled, were announced as the new judges according to news released by the streaming platform on January 18.

Eminem will also serve as a guest judge during the upcoming season’s battle rounds.

Rhythm + Flow Season 2 is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be available to stream later this year.

Season 1 was released on October 23, 2019, and featured judges Cardi B, T.I., and Chance the Rapper.

The trio selected 30 contestants who auditioned in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Chicago.

Other than rap battles, the rappers were forced to complete tasks involving songwriting, performances, and homemade music videos.

The winner is not guaranteed a record deal, but they do walk away with a whopping $250,000 cash prize.

Season 2 contestants will likely participate in similar tasks with the new judges.

All three of them were hyped up in the Netflix announcement where DJ Khaled called hip-hop ‘a lifestyle.’

‘First impression is everything… It all comes down to this one moment,’ Ludacris stated.

Latto said her opinion holds ‘a little weight’ since she was a reality show contestant back in 2016.

The female rapper was crowned the winner of Jermaine Dupri’s show The Rap Game, where she competed under the name Miss Mulatto. Ludacris served as a judge on the short-lived ABC reality show Rising Star in 2014.

DJ Khaled was one of the main judges of Fox’s music competition show The Four back in 2018.
