(H) Paris Hilton declares she was ‘ahead of her time’ when it came to fashion

The media personality and business mogul has opened up about “finally” getting the “credit I deserve” for her lasting impact on the fashion industry.

Paris Hilton has declared that she was “ahead of her time” when it came to fashion.

“When I moved to New York, I didn’t have a stylist,” Paris recalled in a new interview with Flaunt. “I was just very original and ahead of my time with fashion and the way I thought. I’ve always been a risk taker and went by what I felt.”

The 43-year-old continued, “Now people come up to me and say, ‘You invented Y2K fashion, you are the blueprint, you are mother!'”

After years of making headlines for her bold fashion choices, particularly in the early noughties, Paris is delighted to finally be getting the recognition she feels she deserves.

“‘Look at the way Paris, socialite, is dressing, this is so out there!'” Paris said, mimicking an early 2000s tabloid. “Now I see all the things I’d get in trouble for wearing then as huge pieces on runways by the biggest designers. Now everyone’s rocking it.”

The Simple Life star added, “I love that people are finally giving me the credit that I deserve.”

From starring in The Simple Life to releasing ‘Stars Are Blind’ (still an absolute bop, BTW) to sparking no end of fashion trends – we’re talking chainmail dresses, everything pink and skirts the size of belts, as she reminded us in a recent IG post – there’s no question Paris Hilton is an icon of the ’00s. And, thanks to the current Y2K revival, not to mention a whole new list of current achievements, her icon status is still more than applicable.

So imagine our excitement at discovering Paris Hilton and Alix Earle are the new BFF duo we didn’t know we needed. With over six million followers on TikTok, it makes perfect sense the viral social media star has partnered with Paris on a new campaign ad for Joe & The Juice. And what’s better, they match in co-ordinating head-to-toe Barbiecore pink ‘fits for the occasion.

Given the coffee shop’s new campaign centres on the tagline “Get chic for breakfast” we can’t think of two more perfect people to champion the cause. Because we absolutely believe Paris genuinely does wear her pink sequin mini dress with feathered cuffs first thing in the morning.

She accessorised the glam look with pink satin heels embellished with sparkly bows and a pink glittery top handle bag, again featuring bejewelled bow decoration. The finishing touch came in the form of fingerless gloves completely covered in – you guessed it – pink crystals. Who said there’s such a thing as too much sparkle?

Alix opted for slightly more reserved attire. She wore a pastel pink suit with an oversized double-breasted blazer and tailored wide-leg trousers. She added a t-shirt in the same hue, with pale pink strappy heeled sandals completing the monochrome ensemble. Both women had their blonde hair worn down and styled into loose waves.

Fans were loving the pairing, taking to the comments section to write:

Paris has never steered us wrong before, so if she says the hot new trend is to get chic for breakfast, we believe it. Looks like we better start thinking pink.
