“I was fighting this rollercoaster of feelings and pain,” said Prinsloo, who became a third-time mom this past January
Behati Prinsloo is opening up about her third birthing experience.

The model joined actresses Sarah Wright Olsen and Teresa Palmer on their podcast The Mother Daze this week to discuss the births of her children: daughters Gio Grace, 5½, and Dusty Rose, 7, as well as her and husband Adam Levine’s third child, who was born this past January.

As she detailed her “bliss” and “pain” during the birth, Prinsloo, 35, also appeared to reveal that the couple welcomed a son, as well as sharing how her husband — whom she said cut the cord after the baby was born — found the experience.
Having discussed her first two births on the podcast, Prinsloo then talked the hosts through the delivery of her third child, explaining that the family had moved to Santa Barbara, California, and that their newest little one arrived “10 days past” his due date.

The model detailed how, as contractions began, she and her Maroon 5 frontman husband, 44, went to the hospital, where she opted not to have an epidural or a water birth.

“My doctor at a certain point was like, ‘I just want to let you know, this is kind of the point, if you were going to get anything.. this is it,'” Prinsloo said. “She was like, ‘It’s up to you… nobody’s putting pressure on you, do what you feel.’ ” she continued, adding, “I was like, ‘I feel really good… I think I’m… just gonna go with this feeling right now.’ ”

“At one point they’re like, ‘Do you want to get in the water?’ and I was like, ‘Absolutely not. I cannot think about something worse right now than to be wet,’ ” she also explained, jokingly adding, “I was like, ‘No way — no water is getting on this body!’ ”

She then went on to share the “rollercoaster” of emotion that accompanied her third childbirth experience, as well as reveal that they’d welcomed a son by referring to the baby as “he.”

“I’m pushing and I think the hardest part for me was when he … I was so exhausted, but … I was in this state of bliss but also insane pain and bliss and pain and bliss, and I was fighting this… rollercoaster of feelings and pain…levels,” she told Wright Olsen, 40, and Palmer, 37.

“There’s an amazing photo that my doula showed me… I think 12 minutes before I gave birth, before he came out,” Prinsloo continued. “She took a picture and I was laughing. And looking back at that, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s so crazy,’ because in that moment … it was tunnel vision for me. I was just … [trying to] get through this.”

“And I remember when I started feeling the ring of fire, and he was coming through,” the mom of three recalled, again revealing that the couple welcomed a baby boy back in January.

She then went on to share more about her husband’s experience. Levine, who had also been present for the birth of the couple’s first and second children, was by her side “every step of the [way]” throughout the third birth as well, and she said that even now, he “talks about it.”

“It was his favorite thing to watch and to be there and to help me through it … and people telling him what to do to help me too,” Prinsloo said. “Like the doula… putting him there where she would have been … just really making this into such a beautiful experience for everyone.”

“I felt so connected with him,” she explained of her baby during the delivery, later revealing how she felt after he was born: “I was just so amazed by women in general. I was like, ‘Wow, like I freaking did this…’ ” adding that she now has “this amazing birth story.”

As well as supporting her through the birth, Prinsloo revealed that Levine cut their son’s umbilical cord, but joked that it was a “mess” due to the singer being left-handed.

“He’s a leftie, so… the scissors, it’s always a mess,” she joked, sharing that her husband was “so nervous.”

“It was also on his brother’s birthday, so they had donuts. And Adam had about a dozen donuts, because … nervous eating,” Prinsloo laughed, having earlier revealed that she discovered her husband is a “stress eater” during her first birth.

Earlier in the podcast, the model had talked about getting pregnant for the third time, and how the couple felt about it.

“It actually took longer than expected, so we were kind of like also thinking maybe that’s a sign,” she told Wright Olsen and Palmer of getting pregnant for a third time, adding, “You know maybe we’re good, and then of course I get pregnant.”

However, despite having three different birthing journeys, Prinsloo explained later in the podcast, “If I have a fourth one, I won’t be able to tell you what I will do.”

Prinsloo’s candid comments about her third birth come after she and Levine took a family trip to France earlier this year, revealing a glimpse of their third-born on her Instagram Story in June.
In the cute snap, mom and baby lounged together in matching heather-gray outfits, which the model hinted was as a result of recent travel. “Jet lag hits different with three kids,” she joked in the caption.

In another photo shared, Prinsloo was captured laughing as one of her two daughters clung to her waist.

Levine, meanwhile, shared a snap of the family from behind as they walked toward the Louvre museum. As the musician carried one of his daughters, the other walked alongside, holding his wife’s hand.

“GANG,” he captioned the sweet pic.
