Inside Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s new $29 million Montecito mansion

If you thought England had the pick of sprawling mansions fit for the upper class, then obviously you haven’t been to Montecito, California. The Santa Barbara county is fast giving the Hollywood hills a run for its money as the premier A-list enclave. Home to Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow, Katy Perry and even Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (yes, it’s also where that interview took place), the town is now also home to another set of celebrities: Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and wife, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo.

The couple have just settled on an incredible 5.16-acre estate in Montecito, paying a tidy sum of US$22.7 million ($29.3 million) for the property, according to Dirt.com. While it’s certainly no small sum, the nine-bedroom, 11-bathroom mansion is pretty spectacular and has more than enough room for the couple’s two children to roam around.

Built in 1923 by architect George Washington Smith—famous for popularising the Spanish Colonial-style homes seen throughout California—the palatial home is certainly not short on space. Guarded by gates that open to a long, winding driveway lined with mature oak trees, the main house is fronted by a huge lawn.

Given the size of the property, the ‘house’ is actually split into four separate buildings—a main Mediterranean-style villa, a five-car garage which also has staff quarters attached, a two-bedroom guesthouse and a garden cottage containing another bedroom. In short, the house is big enough to house the entire Maroon 5 band and a number of Victoria’s Secret angels.

Inside, the nearly 100-year old home is in pretty great condition, with exposed roof beams and hardwood floor featuring throughout the house. While certainly more traditional in style, the archways, stone fireplaces and French doors and give the house a distinctly Mediterranean feel, albeit with plenty of California sunshine to go round.

While certain parts of the house appear a little dated (kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, we’re looking at you), it’s nothing a little renovation and expert interior styling can’t fix.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has its own balcony, which looks out onto the property’s amazing garden.

Certainly, the house’s well-established pool and garden are a huge selling point. The perfectly symmetrical pool area is shaded by impeccably manicured hedges, fruit trees and a vine-covered pergola.

And throughout the estate, there’s a number of quiet nooks and outdoor areas to discover. We have no doubt The Voice judge and his young family will be very happy in this ultra-private oasis.
