New Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams hit a significant milestone on Thursday night.

As expected, the former USC Trojans star was picked at No. 1 overall and will look to lead the Bears back to the glory days starting in September.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the QB broke the Fanatics record for draft-night jersey sales just one week after Caitlin Clark surpassed it after being taken by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Draft.

Chicago’s No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams broke the Fanatics record for draft night merchandise sales for any draft pick in any sport, beating the previous record set last week by Caitlin Clark,” Schefter noted.

That the Bears would make Caleb Williams the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 was hardly debatable, especially after they traded Justin Fields. They are now hoping he can become the franchise QB that they’ve been in need of.

Caleb Williams Has Set Some Crazy Goals For Himself

Williams has already set some lofty goals for himself as he’s keen on reaching football “immortality.”

You put dreams and goals in front of you that you aren’t able to reach within a year or two, and you try to go get ’em. You have to consistently not get tired with consistency,” he said on Thursday, per NLF.com. “Being able to be the same guy, being able to go in there and lead the guys and hold them accountable, and they hold me accountable to go get it. Having those team goals. The only way you can reach them.

My last goal is immortality. The only way to reach that is winning championships. That’s big for me and something that is the reason I play the game. I’m excited.”

The Bears are building around their new QB and have already gotten him several weapons. They also drafted Rome Odunze on Thursday night, with the rookie set to join a wide receiving corps already boasting Keenan Allen and D.J. Moore.

Exciting times lie ahead.
