“You are so lucky Whoopi ain’t here, and you’re comparing her to Trump,” Ana Navarro told Alyssa Farah Griffin on the air.

Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t on The View this morning, but Alyssa Farah Griffin made sure to invoke her colleague’s spirit on Friday’s episode of the long-running talk show — albeit in a shockingly unexpected way that prompted a hilarious response from fellow panelist Ana Navarro.

The 68-year-old EGOT-winning actress — who typically has Friday mornings off — wasn’t present for the Republican seat-holder’s comic comparison, which stemmed from a Hot Topics discussion about politicians using profanity.

“Does [Donald] Trump cuss a lot?” legal expert Sunny Hostin asked Griffin, who previously worked for Trump’s White House communications team before resigning and subsequently speaking out against her former boss. “He does, and he’s like Whoopi, where every other word is swearing off air, but then somehow can turn it off,” Griffin replied. “I don’t really swear off air because I’m afraid I’ll do it on air.”

Navarro, whom has regularly sparred with Griffin in the past, noted that Goldberg — who famously won’t even say Trump’s name, regularly referring to him as “You-Know-Who” on the air — might not appreciate the side-by-side.

“You are so lucky Whoopi ain’t here when you’re comparing her to Trump,” Navarro said as the audience laughed alongside her.

Griffin, too, chuckled as she clarified, “To be clear, they’re very different people.”

On the other side of the table, fill-in moderator Joy Behar cautioned Navarro to not “start trouble,” before looking to the crowd and smiling.

EW has reached out to representatives for The View and Goldberg for comment.
