In June, Whoopi Goldberg and The View were back in the headlines, this time for the interview alongside conservative senator and 2024 presidential candidate, Tim Scott. The interview took more than a few twists and turns, with the guest refusing to take a commercial break despite Whoopi Goldberg’s request.

“I need an opportunity, because I have to go to break. They’re begging.”

Goldberg would even as a crew member for help during the segment.

“Go up and tell him. Go tell him!” Goldberg shouted from her post, and the crew member ran on stage to tell Scott to stop talking. “We have to go to commercial. We’ll come back. You’ll stick around.”

The interview was a bumpy one for Goldberg and company. The host would even have to address the audience and their boos during the controversial interview.

“Not here. I’m sorry, sir. Do not boo. This is The View,” Goldberg yelled to the audience. “We accept we don’t have to believe everything people say, but you can’t boo people here, please. You cannot do it.”

Not an easy day at the office but in truth, that has been a common theme for Whoopi and her relationship with the audience.

Whoopi Goldberg Responded To An Audience Member After Being Called An ‘Old Broad’

The View’s cast entered their seats with an applause from the audience. However, Goldberg heard a certain comment, and it resulted in quite the exchange. She was called, “an old broad.”

“Did you just call me an ‘old broad’? Yeah. She said, ‘You old broad,’ and I was like, ‘Hey, it’s Wednesday, and I am an old broad, and happy about it.”

Sunny Hostin tried to calm the situation down, stating that it was meant to be a compliment from the audience member, without a negative intent.

“The alternative is not attractive to any of us,” said Goldberg. “We all want to be old broads and old dudes, you know?”

As expected, fans had a lot to say about the moment and what took place. Over on platforms such as YouTube, it was viewed as an overreaction from the media, and perhaps a way to make headlines. In truth, it seems like the audience member was trying to give Whoopi a compliment…

Fans Generally Called Whoopi Goldberg’s Moment On The View, An Overreaction

Posted months ago on YouTube, Goldberg’s moment with the audience member has nearly half a million views. Although the moment gained lots o traction, fans generally don’t agree with Goldberg’s reaction. Many feel as though it was blown out of proportions, and the fan was just being complimentary.

The most liked comment reads, “The audience member wasn’t heckling, she didn’t mean any offense as she is an “old broad” herself.”

Another fan claims social media got the moment completely wrong, “This is a perfect example of what you always see on social media is not always accurate. The person the cameraman went to was not the person that made the comment. That person was sitting in front of the person the camera was on. I know this lady personally and she would not do that. It is not in her character and when this get cleared up as she is asking for a public apology on the view.”

Generally, fans felt as though Whoopi herself was having fun with the moment as well, but it was blown out by the media, particularly the ones that posted about it. Ultimately, it was a tame situation compared to some of the other content that aired on the show in the past.
