Whoopi Goldberg Says There’s A ‘Fake’ Epstein List — And She’s On It

Whoopi Goldberg revealed on Thursday that, in addition to the unsealed documents regarding the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, there is also a”fake” Epstein list floating around — and then she admitted that her name is on it.

Goldberg, longtime host of ABC’s “The View,” made the announcement during Thursday’s broadcast of the midday talk show — and used it to illustrate the broader point that people should verify information they see being reported before they spread it further.

The segment began with cohost Sunny Hostin laying out the framework of what was unsealed — documents that were part of a lawsuit filed by Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre against Epstein’s longtime co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell.

She pointed out the fact that the primary purpose of that lawsuit was to show evidence of Epstein’s criminal sexual behavior and Maxwell’s complicity and participation in it — and that a number of the people whose names were unsealed have never been accused of any criminal act. Some, as previous reports have noted, may be perpetrators or co-conspirators — but others may simply be witnesses, acquaintances, and even additional victims.

“Just because your name is on the documents doesn’t mean that you have done anything criminally irresponsible or illegal or civilly irresponsible or illegal,” she said. “Being named in this suit does not equate to being accused of wrongdoing … I think that is extremely important because conspiracy theorists seem to not understand or enjoy facts.”

Goldberg agreed, adding, “Let me bring that up, the conspiracy theory folks. Because you know — I have to explain because there was a fake list … and I’m on it.”

“You were on the island?” Hostin dead-panned.

“I — I was — I don’t know, they say I was on the island, they say — and I’m like, I don’t go anywhere!” Goldberg replied, prompting laughter from the table. “So I’m just going to say, and there’s been a lot of stuff recently, I don’t know what I’ve done to anybody, apparently there are a lot of these, these kind of sites that are — what do you call them — they’re satire sites, but people don’t realize that they can be harmful.”

“So let me just get my part out,” she continued. “I never got kicked out of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant; never got kicked out of Guy Fieri’s restaurant; I didn’t get kicked off Bill Maher’s show; I didn’t get into a fight with Oprah backstage here at ‘The View.’ I mean it just goes — it’s insane.”
