It’s been only a year since Whoopi Goldberg sold her Pacific Palisades estate, but the home is back on the market once again for $9.595 million. While the historic manse has changed hands several times over the past millennium, its pedigreed past has remained the same. The home was built in the 1930s for Austrian author Vicki Baum, whose novel Grand Hotel earned her international fame. Following Baum, the Streamline Moderne-style house was purchased by late English actor David Niven of The Pink Panther and Casino Royale. And in 1993, Whoopi Goldberg purchased the property, which she owned for nearly 25 years. Situated on the Amalfi Rim of the Pacific Palisades, the 7,000-square-foot main house sits on a 28,000+ square-foot lot, lined by trees and marked by gorgeous landscaping—including an ivy-covered facade—offering a magical sense of privacy in the star-studded neighborhood.
Highlights of the home include five ensuite bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an in-ground pool and views of the ocean and canyon. A separate guest house makes it the perfect home for hosting, and distinctive original features give the entire property its charm. Compass’ Dan Urbach holds the listing.
