The Rolex Monte Carlo witnessed two great semi-final matches, as the players gave it their all to produce a hell of a game. Both of the matches were huge upsets for the tournament. In the Semifinal No.1, two-time Monte Carlo winner Stefanos Tsitsipas beat the unbeatable Jannik Sinner.

After that, it was time for the next matchup between young Casper Ruud, and the very experienced Novak Djokovic.

With Ruud never having beaten Novak Djokovic, the predictions favored the Serbian. However, from the get-go, Ruud changed his gameplay, switched to more attacking tennis, and beat Djokovic for the first set.

The Serbian did come back in the second set to force the game into a third set. This was where the game became more interesting. With Ruud stealing an early break, the hopes of Djokovic qualifying were reduced with every passing set. However, he managed to break back at the last moment but unfortunately failed to hold his serve.

Ending on a double fault, he lost to Ruud 4-6, 6-1, 4-6. With this win, the Norwegian marked his biggest-ever win. Ruud was on cloud nine after the match, as his excitement translated in his post-match interview as well.

It's fantastic. He's one of the best players of all time. I managed to beat him. It's something I'll remember for the rest of my life and can tell my kids and my grandchildren

A huge upset at the Monte Carlo Masters, as Ruud makes his way to his first Finals in Monaco. He will take on Tsitsipas for the title.

Casper Ruud is up for the task that lies ahead of him, as he advances to World No. 6 in the live rankings

Young Casper Ruud makes it to his first-ever Monte Carlo finals after beating Novak Djokovic in a thriller match. Both players did have many unforced errors throughout the match, but it was Ruud who played a little better than Djokovic.

With this win, Ruud became the first Norwegian player to get a win against a Top 3 player. Before this, he had a 0-11 record against the top 3 players. Now, he will face two-time winner Stefanos Tsitsipas for the title. Knowing the challenges that lie ahead of him, Ruud is ready to take on Tsitsipas, who has always been good on clay.

It is a great result but I have been chasing a big title for a few years now and tomorrow I will have another shot at it. I am going to give it my all. Stef is playing well. He is a great player on clay and on other surfaces as well, but I guess clay is maybe where he has had the most success and especially this tournament. So it is going to be another tough task, but I am up for it.

Said Casper Ruud in the post-match interview.

Now, Ruud climbs up a little higher on the points table. According to the PIF ATP live rankings, Ruud is currently placed at World No. 6 and will look to climb higher with a win in Monaco. Having not triumphed in 2024 so far, he would hope to open his quota.
