The fans are finding it hard to hold their excitement as Novak Djokovic is finally gearing up to step back into the game. The tennis legend’s presence was missed as he decided to keep his schedule for the season crisp by missing out on the Miami Open. However, besides the news of his comeback in Monte Carlo, there’s a lot more to be celebrated.

Along with the fans who couldn’t hold back from appreciating the Serb as he surpassed Roger Federer‘s record of being the oldest world no.1, Rick Macci, former coach to tennis legend Serena Williams, also became a part of the cheering crowd.

Expressing his admiration for Djokovic’s feat, he said, “He is the oldest number one ever in tennis at age 36. Always remember it is not where you Start but where you Finish. GOAT strategy is you take the STAIRS not the ESCALATOR. @DjokerNole”.

The Serbian tennis legend is rewriting the history books as he became the oldest player to claim the top spot in the ATP Rankings. At the age of 36 years, Djokovic has surpassed the previous record set by his long-time rival, Roger Federer by holding the crown for 321 days.

These words by Rick Macci added more value to Djokovic’s recent achievement, setting new standards of maintaining the top position despite skipping tournaments to find more time for himself and his family. However, even after being a master of such great feats, the tennis star is now looking forward to clinching another.

Novak Djokovic unveils his ‘top priority’ target for the season

Besides gathering titles and records in his own name, Novak Djokovic has come forward with a target that is more inclined towards his nation. Looking forward to the Paris Olympics, the Serb announced that he has his priorities set.

“The Paris Olympics are very important – the Olympics have always been a priority for me,” Djokovic said, mentioning the value of the event in his career. Along with that, the Serb also highlighted the fact that this time the event is going to be played on clay courts and said that he wants to be ready for it.

“But in the last three or four Olympics, it’s not been possible for me to reach the later stages [the final],” the Serb added, analyzing the previous failures that he had to incur. As the legendary player looks forward to add more wins to his legacy, it still remains to be seen what the season holds for him.
