Justin Timberlake Commandeers Monologue and Debuts His New Song ‘No Angels’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The pop star/actor will release his highly anticipated sixth studio album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’ on Friday

Justin Timberlake put on his “Suit & Tie” and hosted a late night show!

On Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the singer/actor, 43, briefly took over hosting duties by hijacking the monologue in a hilarious bit. That is, until Kimmel, 56, himself cut Timberlake off and reminded him that he was the show’s musical guest, not the “guest host.”

As the ABC talk show kicked off, Timberlake casually emerged on stage in a white pinstripe suit jacket with a white t-shirt underneath and black pants, with Kimmel nowhere to be found.

“Hello, everyone. Welcome to Jimmy Kimmel Live!. I’m going to be your host tonight, Justin Timberlake,” he said while the audience roared with applause and cheers. “Now you all might know me from being … Justin Timberlake.”

The Grammy winner leaned into his hosting duties by reflecting on Sunday’s Academy Awards, which Kimmel had MCed. “Did you guys watch the Oscars last night? I haven’t seen that many stars since Joey Fatone elbowed me in the face!” joked the pop star, referring to his *NSYNC bandmate.

“This is going good,” he continued. “The show, of course, was hosted by my friend and your friend, Jimmy Kimmel, didn’t he do a great job? Unfortunately, Jimmy couldn’t be here tonight, as you can imagine, he’s pretty beat.”

The comedian then walked out, looking more stunned to see the “Cry Me a River” singer than “beat.” After repeating, “I am here!” and asking why Timberlake was up on stage, he inquired further why the performer would think he needed “a guest host.”

“Because you were out all night at the Oscar afterparty,” the hitmaker responded, playfully making a gesture as if Kimmel had been drinking.

When Kimmel admitted that went to one party and then went to bed, Timberlake told it that was “so sad” and used his final moment of stage time to tease the rest of the monologue he would’ve given. “I had a whole monologue planned. I was going to do a presidential debate rap battle where I play Trump and Biden. ‘You’re a loser.’ ‘Come on, man,’” he said, doing impressions.

As the two wrapped up, the TV personality told the musician he’d always been his “favorite Justin,” while Timberlake jested, “You’ve always been my second favorite Jimmy.” (He and fellow talk show host Jimmy Fallon have been close pals for years.)

Joined by an expansive band, including a horn section, and performing on a stage drenched in red and yellow lights, he premiered a dance track with a pulsating, funky beat that feels cut from his seminal album The 20/20 Experience.

“Like full throttle, pilot on auto / There ain’t no angels here on the dance floor / Forget tomorrow, more like you wanna play / There ain’t no angels here on the dance floor,” Timberlake sings on the saucy pop song.
