Novak Djokovic could achieve ‘untouchable record’ if he wins 2024 Monte Carlo Masters

Novak Djokovic already has a gazillion records to his name, but he could add yet another feather to his cap if he wins the Monte Carlo Masters and this feat will not only be tough to match, but also beat in future.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner is hunting a third ATP Masters 1000 title at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and that would help him to claim an “untouchable record”, according to some tennis statisticians and fans.

If Djokovic does indeed go on to win a third Monte Carlo trophy then he would become the first player to win all four Grand Slams, all nine ATP Masters titles and the ATP Finals at least three times over the course of a career.

The Serbian is already the only player to have achieved the feat of winning the four majors, the nine Masters titles and the ATP Finals not just once but twice. He first achieved it in 2018 when he won the Cincinnati Open for the first time and the did it again two years later at the same event.

Djokovic is currently the only player to have won all nine ATP Masters 1000 titles or a Career Golden Masters as it is commonly referred to.

The tennis great has won them all with multiple titles at the Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Monte Carlo Masters, Madrid Open, Italian Open, Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters.

On top of that he has won all the four Grand Slams [Australian Open, French Open Wimbledon, US Open] at least three times and he has also won the ATP Finals a record seven times.

His closest rivals in terms of winning the four Grand Slams, nine ATP Masters and ATP Finals at least once have been fellow Big Three members Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Federer retired well short of achieving the feat as he failed to win the Monte Carlo Masters and the Italian Open. Nadal, although still active, hasn’t won the ATP Finals, Miami Open and Paris Masters.

Meanwhile, the rising stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner still really dominate at Grand Slams, ATP Masters events and the ATP Finals in the years if they want to match Djokovic by winning all 14 titles just once in their careers.
