Are you ready for Season 25 of NBC’s The Voice, premiering this Monday, February 26 at 8/7c? To get fans excited for the latest iteration of the hit competition series, the Coaching roster of Chance the Rapper, Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, and John Legend joined their musical talents for a stunning performance of Jackie DeShannon’s 1969 classic, “Put a Little Love in Your Heart.”

Invest three minutes of your time to watch the video, and you’ll understand why these folks are entrusted with fostering the next generation of music industry talent.

Written by DeShannon, Jimmy Holiday, and Randy Myers, “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” reflects the “peace and love” hippie idealism of ’60s-era counterculture. Since its release, the song has been covered numerous times over the years by The Isley Brothers, Andy Williams, Al Green and Annie Lennox, The Dave Clark Five, and even Star Trek‘s Leonard Nimoy.

“It was actually written very fast,” DeShannon recalled during a guest appearance on Speaking Freely in 2001. “It’s just one of those things that was meant to be and happened. My mom was always saying things like, ‘They oughta put a little love in their hearts.’ I think it stuck somewhere in the back of my mind.”
