Novak Djokovic recently penned down a heartfelt note while announcing his split from his long-time coach and friend, Goran Ivanisevic. He reflected on how their friendship was always rock solid, despite going through several ups and downs over the last few years. Since the announcement of the departure of the 52YO Croatian coach, everyone has started to wonder who lines up next in Novak Djokovic’s team.

But before even announcing the name, Djokovic yet again sends a heartwarming message to his former coach during a press conference in Belgrade. He said Goran Ivanisevic is a friend for life for him and his family. Djokovic stressed the fact that the end of their professional collaboration doesn’t mean that their friendship would also stop there. Here’s what he said more about his relationship with Ivanisevic.

“Together, we’ve written history of our sport” – Novak Djokovic speaks on his partnership with his former coach

During the press conference, Novak Djokovic stated, “Together, we’ve written history of our sport. We have won Slams, ended seasons as number one in the world.” The world number one tennis star went on to add, “But we went through trials and tribulations as well – disqualification at the US Open, deportation from Australia… ” Djokovic said that he’ll always remember that Ivanisevic was always there beside him no matter what came his way.

He brought the right set of values into our relationship. That kind of chemistry was followed by great results. I wish Goran all the best,” Novak Djokovic. But who’ll be next to take the role of Goran Ivanisevic in Nole’s team?

To this, Djokovic said that he still has no idea about who’d replace his former coach. “I still don’t have a clear idea who a new coach would be, or whether there will be one at all,” Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis star said that he’ll inform everyone in case someone joins the team. But for now, he’ll continue without a coach and try to evaluate his exact needs. But the suggestions to fill the hot seat of becoming the coach for the world number tennis star have already started to come in. Let’s have a look at the most interesting suggestion.

“Someone like John McEnroe” – Chris Evert’s ex-husband comes up with a new suggestion for Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is yet to win an ATP title in 2024. This is something that has never happened to him in the last 18 years. So, a change was always on the cards. His brother Marko Djokovic will likely accompany his brother for the next tournaments. But talking about the new coach, John Lloyd recently asked Djokovic to hire American tennis legend, John McEnroe.

During a conversation at the Tennis Channel Inside In-Podcast, Lloyd said, “I would almost go sort of left-field, I would go with someone like John McEnroe. I know he probably wouldn’t do it. I think he’s gotta go somewhere.” He further gave the reason for this call saying Djokovic doesn’t need someone who’s going to be doing dills and kinds of stuff like that. So to figure out the right strategies for the Serb, he believes McEnroe is the one he should be looking at.

Who do you think will end up as the head coach of Novak Djokovic?
