For Legend’s 40th birthday, Teigen shared a slideshow of adorable posts of their family to Instagram alongisde a heartfelt caption expressing her love for him — and a cheeky nod to how she shows it.

“Happy 40th birthday to the most incredible man. The best father, hardest worker, best lover, best friend I could ever imagine,” she wrote on Dec. 28.

“Every day I am grateful for how much you love us and how much you both say it and show it. You are one of a kind. I am grateful to your family for creating and raising such a pure, sweet, brilliant man. The world has been blessed by your 40 years on this planet. I love you. I showed you that this morning BOOYAHHHH,” she added, alluding to their steamy sex life.

ON SPENDING TIME AS A FAMILY

While the famous pair love a fun date night, Teigen shared that nothing tops spending time at home together with their two kids, Luna, 2½, and Miles Theodore, 6 months.

“There is a lot of relatability in our lives,” she says. “We’re homebodies. We like to stay in. We get to do over-the-top, awesome things a lot, but we really love being a family. We really love being together, and I find more happiness in the smaller moments than those huge nights out.”

ON HOW TEIGEN INSPIRES HIM

Legend has no shortage of sweet things to say about his wife. After winning an Emmy for co-producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, becoming one of the youngest EGOT winners ever, Legend turned the spotlight on Teigen and how she’s helped to get him where he is.

“We inspire each other,” he told reporters of their marriage after accepting the award. “She inspires my songs, she inspires me to want to be a better husband and a better father. We support each other fully in everything that we do. I root for her in her career and everything she’s doing. And I expect that she’ll be up here winning Emmys herself for all the awesome work that she does.”

“She’s such a dynamic, vibrant personality, and I’ve fallen in love with her a long time before the rest of America did,” he added. “But now America’s fallen in love with her too, and she inspires me every day.” Could they be any cuter?!

The Cravings author gave her hubby a sweet shoutout on their fifth wedding anniversary on Sept. 14.

“12 years ago today, I met the man of my dreams. And 5 years ago today, we got married,” wrote Teigen, alongside a professional shot of the couple kissing at their Lake Como, Italy wedding. “We have two babies and some pups and a life I am grateful to have. My everything, I love you and am so proud of the story we’ve created.”

Legend responded with his own touching tribute.

“What can I say on a day like today?” the dad-of-two began the post, alongside a photo of him and Teigen in formal attire sitting cheek-to-cheek on the floor.

“I could talk about the 12 beautiful years I’ve known you. I could talk about the 5 years of wedded bliss, the 2 wonderful children we’ve brought into this world,” Legend continued.

“But I feel the urge to say something far more important,” the “All of Me” singer continued. “I LOVE your new kitchenware line at @Target. I can’t wait for it to come out on September 30th,” he wrote, playfully responding to her frustration over him announcing that he would be joining NBC’s The Voice as a judge for season 16 on the same day as her Target kitchen line’s launch.

ON REMINDING TEIGEN HOW SEXY SHE IS

Legend sees his wife as a queen, and won’t let her forget it.

“John tells me I’m sexy all the time,” the author of Cravings: Hungry for More told PEOPLE in Sept. 2018. “Honestly I fight it because there’s only so much that someone can say or do before you’re like, ‘I know you’re not telling the truth.’ But he really pushes it and he wants me to know that he loves my new body or he loves the way my skin feels.”

Even when Teigen isn’t feeling herself, Legend insists that he is. “When I’m feeling totally filthy, he always lets me know that he is still totally turned on by me, which is great.”

ON THEIR EARLY DAYS OF DATING

The couple met on the set of Legend’s “Stereo” music video in 2007 and “hooked up” afterwards, Teigen previously told Cosmopolitan. “I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, ‘What are we?’ Marriage was never my goal, because I’ve never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him.”

Indeed, it took Legend “probably a couple of years in” to see Teigen as his future wife, he told Los Angeles Confidential in 2014. “For me, I’m the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling.”

“We were texting a lot, and I started to see her sense of humor,” Legend previously told ET about the beginning of their relationship. “We would talk on the phone, and I started to fall in love with how engaging and witty and funny she is.”

“Back to where it all began — Lake Como, Italy — first came here in 2007,” Teigen captioned a photo in 2016 while on vacation.

“A boat tour guide took us to a little spot on the lake and told us to make a wish. I asked for this to be the man I marry and have children with. I think John asked for the most perfect bite of cacio e pepe. Both came true, and here we are.”

After Teigen revealed her painful battle with postpartum depression, Legend opened up to PEOPLE about remaining by Teigen’s side during her recovery from the devastating disease.

“For me as a husband, it was my job to do the best I could to support her and understand what she was going through and do whatever I could do to help her,” he said. “I feel like that’s the least I could do. I think it was powerful for her to let a lot of women know they’re not alone, and no matter how much money you have or fame, anybody can feel that.”

Teigen credited her husband’s unwavering support in her Glamour cover, saying “he’s exactly as compassionate, patient, loving and understanding as he seems.”

“I was really stressed and busy. I was just like, ‘I’d just be happier single right now,’ and she was like, ‘No,'” Legend told The Guardian about their brief split.

“11 years later, baby,” Teigen later responded on Twitter. “It wasn’t a typical breakup. He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a whiny face about everything and so yeah, I was like, ‘No.'”

“We were on our way to Thailand to see my parents, flying commercial first-class,” she told Cosmopolitan about joining the mile-high club with her husband.

“Since the day she was born, you’ve done every bottle with me, woken up with me to keep me company through the night. You don’t mind diapers, get all the best burps, and read her Goodnight Moon like poetry,” Teigen wrote in June 2016 on Father’s Day, two months after welcoming baby Luna.

“It makes me so happy to see so much of you in her smile and eyes that completely glow when looking at you … We love you, Johnny, endlessly, forever and ever to the Luna and back.”

“It’s better than ever. We love being parents, we love our daughter and we still enjoy each other’s company so much,” Legend told PEOPLE in March. “I think she’s brought me out of my shell and made me enjoy life a little bit more. It’s been fun to grow together in that.”

“I’m much luckier to have John’s personality in my life than he is to have mine,” Teigen told InStyle. “He is insanely patient and such a dork, and he loves seeing me happy.”

In November, the couple announced they’re expecting another baby in 2018.

“Even though Chrissy and I have been together a long time, we hadn’t been parents together until last year, and so I think you start to learn how to parent together and what kinds of responsibilities you want to share and take on,” Legend said in December.
