Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ holds the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200

Beyoncé just released her album ‘Cowboy Carter’ which held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, marking the biggest album sales so far in 2024.

 

 

The album Cowboy Carter released on March 29, achieved sales of 407,000 copies, becoming the highest performing song since Taylor Swift’s album 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which sold 1.653 million copies when released in November 2023.  Beyoncé’s new album holds the record for biggest streaming week ever.

Cowboy Carter achieved Beyoncé’s biggest sales since 2016’s Lemonade album (653,000 copies). The singer became the first black woman to ever release an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. It’s the best-selling week for a country album since last July, when Taylor Swift’s Speak Now was No. 1 with 716,000 copies.

 

Of the 407,000 copies, 232,000 were streamed, while traditional album sales accounted for 168,000. The four limited edition vinyl records sold 62,000 copies, giving Beyoncé her biggest sales week for the format.

In addition, with the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200, Beyoncé surpassed Janet Jackson to win the 4th No. 1 position among female artists achieving this title. Before her are Madonna (9 times champion), Barbra Streisand (11 times) and Taylor Swift (12 times).

VARIETY

Meanwhile, We Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin slipped from the top spot on the Billboard 200 to number 2 with 131,000 album units. Morgan Wallen followed at No. 3 with the album One Thing at a Time, Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine dropped from No. 3 to No. 4. Keeping the top 5 spot was J-Hope, with the album Hope on the Streets, Vol .1 (50,000 copies sold).

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter features a pair of key tracks: Texas Hold’Em and 16 Carriages and many others featuring artists: Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone.
