On September 9, John Legend – owner of 12 Grammy gold statues, officially released his 8th studio album titled Legend. Mainly produced by John Legend and famous musician – music producer Ryan Tedder (leader of One Republic, who has collaborated with Beyoncé, Adele…), this album has vibrant colors, filled with spirit. joyful, passionate, and at the same time fully conveying pain, praise, and healing.
As the name suggests, Legend is a ‘double album’ product with part 1 (Act I) vividly evoking Saturday night with worldly pleasures, full of lust, instinct and adventure. Part 1 opens with Rounds teaming up with Rick Ross. Other tracks include the R&B Splash featuring Jhene Aiko and rapper Ty Dolla $ign, Dope – an energetic summer track featuring rapper J.I.D and climaxed with the song All she wanna do is addictive and completely sublime with Saweetie.
Part 2 (Act II) evokes the feeling of a Sunday morning filled with healing, intimacy and connection. Part 2 includes Honey – an attractive R&B song featuring Muni Long, Wonder Woman – a song featuring Dap Kings to honor the strength and grace of the women in John Legend’s life. The album Legend has a classic feel but still creates a new and adventurous feeling, representing John Legend’s new beginning in life. At the same time, this album also affirms his position in the artistic flow of black people, where ancestral stories are also honored as love, beauty and joy.
Legend also marks the first time a male artist has brought the symbol of his stage name to an album. John Legend explains: ‘Up until this point, I had never used my name as the title of an album.
