NewJeans is the group of the year at the Billboard Women in Music Awards 2024

NewJeans made history by becoming the first Kpop artist and the second artist worldwide to win this award from the Billboard Women in Music Awards, since 2015 with Fifth Harmony (To date, Group category of New Year was honored twice, in 2015 and 2024).

Accordingly, the Billboard Women in Music Awards has just announced the list of first winners of the 2024 season.

This annual event includes performances and celebrates powerful women who are shaping the music landscape. This year, the Billboard Women in Music Awards will be held on March 6, at the YouTube Theater, Hollywood Park, California (USA).

According to Billboard, the female artists honored this year demonstrate the popularity of music on a global scale, from Australia (Kylie Minogue), England (Charli XCX), Korea (NewJeans), Nigeria (Tems) , Brazil (Luisa Sonza), Puerto Rico (Young Miko)… to America (Maren Morris, Ice Spice and Victoria Monét). Notably, NewJeans received the Group of the Year award.

NewJeans’ album “Get Up” has also now equaled the record with Blackpink’s “The Album” on the Billboard 200 chart, being the album by a Kpop girl group with the longest number of weeks in history – 26 weeks.

The group also had 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with the highest ranking being “Super Shy” from the album “Get Up”.

According to management company ADOR, NewJeans will also attend the awards ceremony taking place in March, in the US. The list of performers and additional honorees for the Billboard Women in Music Awards, including the most prestigious category of 2024 Billboard Women of the Year, will be announced in the coming weeks.
