Pop girlies, unite!Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae know that Friday night is for the girls.

The pair of popstar friends stepped out on January 19 to sit courtside at the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Brooklyn Nets at Crypto.com arena in LA. Photos from the game captured the two musicians cheering loudly, laughing, and having the time of their lives at the game. Unfortunately, Rodrigo and McRae’s pop star power couldn’t bring the Lakers a win — they lost to the Nets 130-112.

As for front row style, Rodrigo and McRae kept it relatively casual in their own way. Rodrigo went with a schoolgirl vibe, wearing a black button-up mini dress with a white t-shirt underneath. The GUTS artist paired the outfit with chunky black loafers and white ankle socks.

McRae stuck with oversized for her relaxed outfit. The “Greedy” singer wore a large leather blazer with baggy jeans and sneakers. The look oozed effortless cool girl.

Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae, who are both 20, hard-launched their friendship last year when the former featured McRae in her music video for “bad idea, right?” The 90s/early aughts-inspired music video saw Rodrigo’s closest friends IRL playing her friends in the video. Iris Apatow and Madison Hu also star alongside McRae in the music video.

McRae told SiriusXM Hits 1 in September that Rodrigo casually asked her to be in the music video via text.

“[Olivia] just texted me and she’s like, ‘Oh, do you want to do a music video, like, tomorrow?’ And I was like, ‘Sure!’” McRae said. “It was so fun. I mean, all those girls are genuinely just the best girls ever.”

The musician later shared a behind-the-scenes selfie with the three other girls, writing in the caption “<333 the gals.”

Olivia Rodrigo is currently gearing up to perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards on February 4. The whole slate of performers was announced last Sunday, with Rodrigo joining other musicians including Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.
