And it’s from the most unexpected brand.

Olivia Rodrigo may be celebrating the release of her latest album, GUTS, but that doesn’t mean that she’s put her SOUR days behind her entirely. Last night, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, everyone’s favorite angsty teen pop star wore a lavender (the hue of her debut album cover) mini from Coach’s Spring 2024 collection. And while it may seem like a sweet little babydoll dress, the super-short ensemble was made entirely of leather, bringing together Coach’s storied heritage as an American leather house with a bit of Rodrigo’s signature Y2K style.

Rodrigo styled the very, very short dress, which featured thin spaghetti straps and an empire waistline along with seam details on the bodice, with statement-making sculptural silver heels. She finished the look off with pristine, perfect waves in her long brown hair and a handful of rings. Her makeup look was light and natural, with a peachy lip color and no smoky eye in sight.

During a segment on the show, Rodrigo surprised Kimmel’s kids by posing as a hitchhiker as their dad drove them to school. In the clip, Rodrigo performed Molly and Billy’s favorite tracks, “ballad of a homeschooled girl” and “get him back!” When the singing came to an end, Rodrigo had a joke of her own, saying, “This isn’t Carpool Karaoke?”

“Hey, thank you for getting up early and giving my kids a real thrill,” Kimmel said during their chat.

“It was so much fun. I hope they had a good time,” Rodrigo responded.

During her interview, Rodrigo reflected on the release of GUTS, which rolled out with a full promotional campaign. In contrast, SOUR, which was released during the pandemic, didn’t get the same treatment.

“I never got to actually experience any of the fun events that go along with an album release!” she said. “I never got to watch people as they listened to the songs for the first time. It’s really fun.”
