Beyonce made Grammy history on Tuesday. Indeed, not only is she leading the pack with 9 nominations, she veered into Michael Jackson territory with the noms secured.

See, not since MJ has an act scored honors in such a vast array of categories.

Queen Bey is up for all of the main awards (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year); she’s also listed across a host of different genres – Pop, Urban, and even Rock (for ‘Lemonade’ jam ‘Don’t Hurt Yourself’).

Billboard cites a source on the voting panel who claims that Bey’s formal submission for ‘Daddy Lessons’ was rejected by the Country board.

No additional details were provided, but the news comes after furore from some in the Country community following the singer’s performance of the song with the Dixie Chicks at last month’s CMAs.

Interestingly the awards aired November 2nd and the Grammy’s first ballot (aka: the vote that determines nominations) was due November 4th. As such, it’s entirely plausible to argue that the nonsensical drama surrounding her showing did affect her clout in the category.

Still, it’s unlikely Mrs Carter is losing any sleep. Her multiple nominations in other genres re-affirms the fact that she’s made her mark. Both with ‘Lemonade’ as a project and her career more broadly.
