The Kansas City Police Department said many of the injured victims included children and that about nine children are currently being treated for gunshot wounds at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Madison Anderes (24), who attended the parade with her brother and mother, told CNN they ran for their lives after hearing what sounded like “a series of fireworks” going off and a man The man in front of them turned around and shouted: “He’s got a gun! He’s got a gun.”
